Overcoming Stage Fright

How to overcome stage fright with hypnotherapy.

Are you struggling with stage fright? Has it gotten to a point where it is holding you back and you can’t take it anymore?

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, around 73% of people experience stage fright.
And while this may make you feel less alone, it does not make it any better.
Common symptoms of stage fright include:

  • Sweating

  • Upset stomach

  • Nausea

  • Trembling hands, lips, knees and voice

  • Cold hands

  • Dry mouth

  • Altered heart rate

  • Headaches

  • Vision changes

What causes stage fright?

There are many reasons stage fright occurs but it could be a subconscious fear of failure, of embarrassment or of being judged. When you get in front of people, a fight-or-flight response turns on, causing the symptoms above. Your subconscious mind reads it as a threat. And because your subconscious mind is designed to protect you, it tries to keep you away from any situation that would cause these symptoms.

But you consciously know that it is not a real threat!

You consciously know that even if you mess up a couple words or notes, that you will continue living life
and everything will be ok. You know this because it probably happened before and you made it out alive.

So how do you fix this disconnect?

One way is with hypnotherapy and tapping into the subconscious mind to let it know this isn’t a real threat. Through hypnosis you can teach the subconscious to not fire that fight-or-flight while on stage or in front of peers. You can also uncover deep beliefs and habits that are causing this fight-or-flight response.

Is it safe?

Absolutely, as long as you’re working with a trained and certified hypnotherapist. A lot of people don’t realize this but they go into different forms of hypnosis daily, such as zoning out or getting lost in a book or movie. Through hypnotherapy you enter it purposefully and with a goal. The only known contraindication is for people with severe mental health issues such as schizophrenia or dissociative disorders.

"I felt immediate results after my first session with Melissa. My partner gifted me a session with her for my birthday as I am a musician and Melissa offers…hypnotherapy for musicians. There is alot of emotion and feeling that comes with being in the musical arts, so it is important to find ways to positively process it all. This turned out to be one of them. I came out of it feeling lighter and with clearer thoughts, especially the morning after. Not only was the session itself effective, but Melissa also empowers you with the knowledge to practice self-hypnosis, so the effect is continuous. Melissa is a natural at this and makes it super easy & comfortable. If you are thinking about it, definitely book a session!"
